Artifact Uprising Album Buyer's Guide: Sizes, Thickness, Shipping, Care

Is Artifact Uprising worth it?
Yes if you want a linen, foil-stamped, layflat album and you will actually finish the design. No if you need 70 pages on a $150 budget (extra pages will blow it up), if you wanted a rigid studio flush-mount, or if you will never sit down in the editor. The brand is expensive relative to Mixbook-on-sale and cheap relative to a $1,500 studio album. Worth is almost entirely page count plus whether linen-and-foil is the object you want. Compare alternatives in best wedding album makers and Printique vs. Artifact Uprising.
Album sizes (length by width)
Current Layflat and Signature sizes, from their help center and product pages: 8.5×8.5, 8.25×11, 11×8.25, 10×10, 12×12, 11×14, 14×11 inches. Everyday Photo Book is a separate 7×7 product. Photo-Wrapped Layflat drops 14×11. Pick size before you design; changing size in the editor recrops every spread.
For a wedding album most people should order 10×10 or 12×12. 8.5×8.5 is a parent gift or a short highlights book. 11×14 / 14×11 is the “this lives on the coffee table” size and the extra-page rate is highest ($7.00 linen, $8.25 Signature).
How thick is a 50-page layflat album?
Artifact Uprising publishes two anchors for the linen Layflat Photo Album: 20 pages is 0.625" thick; 90 pages is about 2" thick; each page is about 0.04". Signature help text lists 90 pages at 1.625" in one product block - use the product page you are ordering from.
Interpolating the linen album's published range (0.625" at 20 pages to 2" at 90): a 50-page book is roughly 1.2" thick. Using their 0.04" per page rule of thumb, 50 pages is about 2" - which overshoots the 20-page published number, so treat 1.2–1.5" as the honest range for 50 pages, not a millimetre spec. It will not look like a 3" studio flush-mount. It will look like a substantial book.
Tiers, paper, and covers
- Layflat Photo Album - from $159, plant linen, 20–90 pages, extra $5.25–$7.00/page, 5 business days in production.
- Signature Layflat - from $239, linen or leather, tip-on photo styles, ribbon, end sheet colors, extra $5.25–$8.25/page, 8 business days.
- Photo-Wrapped Layflat - thinner pages, up to 100 pages, extra $3.80–$6.50/page, photo cover.
Paper is Lustre (sheen, fingerprints) or Superfine / matte eggshell. Covers: linen colors including Oatmeal, Smoke, Seamist, Midnight Blue; Signature adds leather (Chestnut, Coal when we checked). Foil gold, silver, white, sometimes copper or black. Optional birch/walnut boxes sell out. Full tier logic lives in luxury vs. premium, lustre vs. superfine.
Where it ships from, and what shipping costs
The office is in Denver. Orders are printed and shipped from partner production facilities around the United States, so there is no Denver pickup and a single order can arrive in multiple boxes. They do not offer standing free shipping. Cost depends on weight, page count, and destination - the only way to see a number is to put the real page count in the cart and go to review.
Production is 5 full business days for the linen layflat (8 for Signature) before the clock on shipping starts. Methods they list: Standard 5–8 business days, Economy 3–5, Expedited 2–3, Rush 1. International is FedEx International Economy; customs, duties, and import taxes are yours. They periodically run a Wait & Save delayed shipping rate; it is not always on.
Artifact Uprising savings
This is not Mixbook. List price is the normal price. They do run occasional percentage-off offers (a 15% popup appeared on the Signature page while researching this guide) and seasonal Wait & Save shipping. Gift cards and an ambassador program exist. Do not budget as if a 40% coupon is coming. If the total is too high, cut page count or drop to Photo-Wrapped before you wait for a sale that may not come.
How to clean an Artifact Uprising cover
They do not publish a dedicated cover-cleaning article. The standard linen album is plant-based fabric over board; treat it like a cloth-bound book. Dry methods first: soft brush, lint roller, or a document-cleaning / gum eraser on scuffs. If you must use moisture, a cloth barely damp with distilled water, wiped with the weave, dried immediately. Do not soak - water under the cloth can release the adhesive. Do not put it in a washing machine. Leather Signature covers: dry cloth, leather cleaner only if you have tested a hidden spot; avoid saddle soap experiments on a $239 album. Store out of direct sun. The keepsake box is the actual dust strategy.
Design help, proofs, reprints
DIY is the default. The product page now offers work-with-a-designer, and customers mention a roughly $10 design-review pass for typos and resolution. Proofing is on-screen; some reviews note prints coming darker than the digital proof - order a small book or accept a slight shift. No Artifact Uprising logo on the linen or Signature album itself (softcover books do print a logo). Quality guarantee: they remake manufacturing defects, not layouts you approved. Reorder parent copies from the saved project.
Before you design
Page count is the budget. Photo selection is the album. Wait for the photographer if you must - 4–8 weeks is typical - but do not skip guest candids. A QR code photo gallery on the day is how you get the 50 pages to earn their thickness.
Frequently asked questions
Their published numbers are 0.625 inches at 20 pages and about 2 inches at 90 pages. Interpolated, 50 pages is around 1.2 inches. It is a substantial book, not a 3-inch flush-mount studio album.
